Who can use Fresh Equities?
Legal requirements for users of Fresh Equities.
Introduction
Pursuant to the Corporations Act, Fresh Equities can only work with investors who qualify as wholesale clients and are sophisticated or professional investors.
To use Fresh we require you to open an account, verify your identity and your investor status.
Qualified investors
Below is a summary of the requirements from the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) which will help you self-assess your investor status:
Sophisticated:
I have or control net assets of at least $2.5 million, either in my own name or through an entity; or
Earned a gross income of $250,000 or more per annum in each of the previous two years.
Professional:
I have or control more than $10m in gross assets, either in my own name or through an entity; or
Hold an Australian Financial Service License or;
Control a company that employs more than 20 people (or if the business includes or is directly involved in the manufacturing of goods, 100 people) or;
Control a foreign entity that, if established or incorporated in Australia, would be covered by one of the preceding paragraphs.
Becoming an s708 client of Fresh Equities
If you believe that you meet the requirements, we'd love to get your investor status fully verified. All you'll need to do is obtain a verified s708 certificate from your accountant, or alternatively you can upload your accountant details to your profile and we can make arrangements with them on your behalf.
